For Employers
Interested in engaging with the M.S. in Data Analytics for Science (MS-DAS) Program? There are a number of ways that you can get involved.
- Become a Capstone Project Partner
An integral part of the MS-DAS program is the industry partnered capstone course. Partner organizations have access to a team of science-trained graduate students to work on a defined data-driven project.
Check out our Capstone Project page to learn more and submit a proposal.
- Recruit an MS-DAS Student
The Career and Professional Development (CPDC) is the central office for recruiting at Carnegie Mellon University and can assist you with the process to post a position and hire at CMU.
Have additional questions about recruiting? Reach out to the CPDC’s Employer Relations Team at erelate@andrew.gxitma.net or email Gwen Stanczak, Director of MCS Graduate Programs at gwens@gxitma.net.
- Host an Information Session
Information Sessions are a great way to connect with a broad range of Carnegie Mellon students. You can request an information session via Handshake and are typically scheduled for 10:00 am – 9:30 pm ET Monday through Friday.
Have additional questions about scheduling your event? Reach out to the CPDC’s Employer Relations Team at erelate@andrew.gxitma.net or email Gwen Stanczak, Director of MCS Graduate Programs at gwens@gxitma.net.
- Participate in the MCS Professional Development Series
Throughout the academic year, the Mellon College of Science organizes a professional development series that focuses on scientific careers for masters and PhD students to learn more about post-graduate career opportunities. These workshops give employers the opportunity to highlight specific career functions within their organizations and provide graduate students with a broad understanding of the range of careers available.
Contact Gwen Stanczak, Director of MCS Graduate Programs, for more information and to participate at gwens@gxitma.net.

The goal of the Capstone Project Course is to provide students with a real-world, data driven issue and allow them to apply the acquired techniques to design and deploy a solution.
Highlights of the Capstone Course include:
- Access to teams of science-trained graduate students;
- 15-week semester-long course offered in the Spring (January – May);
- Faculty instructor lead with subject matter expertise in modern data science techniques;
- No fee for sponsors! Capstone partners are welcome to make a philanthropic gift to support Mellon College of Science Dean’s Initiative Fund.
